"A Song Of Ice And Fire" - Game of Thrones branded racist!

I have seen a number of postings on various sites - quite a number actually - claiming or naming that Game of Thrones is 'racist'. Here's a more studied one of the 'observations':-
Ultimately, A Song of Ice and Fire, like the Lord of the Rings, is the work of a brilliant and conscientious writer who is nonetheless writing in his own time and place. The United States in 2012 is, far too often, and even with a black president, still a culture rich in racist stereotypes and xenophobic fear-mongering. Expecting a writer to remain entirely unstained by this is expecting a person to live underwater without getting wet. If we still find troubling racial assumptions and caricatures in fantasy – whether on the page, or on the big or small screen — this probably tells us more about our culture-wide problems than it does about a single writer’s, or a single show’s issues. A Song of Ice and Fire is indeed our American Lord of the Rings, and if Westeros has its race problems, they are simply a powerful reflection of America’s.

Game of Thrones is one of the very best TV sagas to hit our screens for a long time. For an avowed racist like me, I love it. Its the US version of Lord of the Rings. I came across it as a TV series and am now reading the books by George R.R Martin and I am finding the books even better than the TV series. George Martin is already at work on another in this epic saga.
If you like good old healthy tough men, women in distress, barbaric barbarians, mostly White actors (over 90%), lots of swords, shields and heroism then you must watch and read 'The Song of Ice and Fire'.
If they want to brand it racist and homophobic oh yes and misogynist then you  simple MUST watch The Game of Thrones. The last three films in the 'Lord of the Rings' was branded racist - just because all the baddies were dark and deformed (the Orks) and all the good lads were White - that's what Tolkein wrote - so any Liberal moaners reading this - LIVE WITH IT!
