We received information that there was going to be a fundraising dinner organised by local Muslims to help them raise funds for the new Nelson Street Mosque.
We phoned some of our members and we arranged to get to the Treetops Hotel just before the dinner was due to start.
We held our banners aloft for an hour in freezing temperatures but the looks on the Muslims faces as they drove past our banners was priceless.
After an hour we called it a day but not before we received several shouts of support from passers-by. Of course we also had some abuse from others. Our demo ended and as we were packing up two police vans and a police car arrived. Once they took our details we were allowed to go on our way. Many thanks to those who turned up in such a cold night.
